On March 2, 1952, Rev. W. J. Boyd (1952-1973) accepted the call to pastor FPC. Membership remained fairly constant during this time, recording 153 members in 1954 and 151 in 1988. FPC Boyds 1952

FPC held a special service September 4, 1954, commemorating her 100th anniversary. Pastor Rev. W. J. Boyd, led the services with the message, The Church in the World, telling the congregation, “It is no mean honor, even for a church, to have survived and prospered for 100 years, for many have fallen by the wayside.”

Exhorting the membership to continue the pace set by early-day church leaders, he said, “Those who labored here during the first century, ministry and laity alike, did a noble work. They have run well. We join hands and voices in giving thanks to God for their work and devotion.”

Among those attending the Centennial celebration was the Rev. George P. Scott, who became pastor in 1902 and served the church 33 years before retiring.

Rev. Boyd’s daughter Miriam and her husband Tom Hamer continue to be an active part of our church.
