In addition to FPC’s role with Christ Classical Academy, Life Choices, and Hope for LaGonave, FPC has been involved in other ministries.

Involvement in Other Ministries

Studying the Bible tends to be one of the highest values of FPC members, and many members over the years were involved in Explorer Bible Study. Its first leader, former church member, Becky Estes, led four and a half years until she moved to AR. The late Alice Shatzer drove to Caruthersville for years to lead a group in Explorer Bible Study that was not able to make the commute to Dyersburg.

Since1997, community bible studyCommunity Bible Study (CBS) has been active in Dyersburg, and many women from FPC have been involved. FPC member Melodee Chapman has been the teaching director for CBS since 2008.

FPC has supported the New Life Mission since its birth in 1961 as the New Life Mission crpdDyersburg Union Mission. The late elder John Hoff, having served as chairman of the board, and he and his wife Martha, along with elder Miles Shatzer served on the Youth Building Leadership Campaign in 1995. A host of church members have been involved in the New Life Youth Camp, the Mission March, after school youth program, and other events and ministry opportunities.

Members of FPC have supported and volunteered at Transitions and many will be involved at Damascus as this ministry gets off the ground. Both of these ministries are residential ministries for women (Transitions) and men (Damascus), which focus on preparation for re-entering society after prison time and/or drug abuse.
